Back to Blogging

I've been thinking about getting back into writing a blog for awhile. And here we go...
A week ago, I had a clarity of sorts  which led me to want to be more focused on myself, my health, and my body.  

Myself
I've decided to find out what exactly makes me happy and.... actually spend my time doing those things!   I live in one of the most exciting city's in the world for god sakes... it's time to let loose and enjoy.  The world is my oyster. First step.. I ordered group ballroom dancing classes recently with a friend. Ballroom dancing is something I fell in love with in college and I'm very excited to start it up again.

My Body + My health
As far as working out goes: I've always enjoyed going to the gym, especially when it is for ZUMBA. I've recently invested in ( that's right buying clothes is an investement in my health!) a bunch of  fun work out clothes and running shoes. This was just the jumpstart I needed to get back into routine exercise... 4 days so far this week.

My diet is my biggest issue. I've gotten myself into a rut of bad eating  habbits, blaming it mostly on being a surgical resident. Yes of course being a surgery resident has it's challenges -long hours , crazy schedule, irregular sleep patterns, and not always having access to the healthiest food options * thank you burger UR way, proximal and distal deli, and  of course popeyes for providing the best that East Flatbush has to offer.  These are all excuses though my friends, I'm responsible for what I subject my body to.

I'm kicking off my journey to a healthier me with a 3- day juice cleanse from www.urbanremedy.com. If you've read about juice cleansing it sounds pretty remakrable. You spend a few days cleansing your body of  the crap you've been eating, cut your cravings for processed foods and sugars, and give your metabolism a boost. I'm stating it on Saturday and can't wait to share it here.
